Doc’s Reviews for the Week of 8/12/2020

FLASH #759     DC COMICS

Joshua Williamson’s writing skills are on full display here. His tale which keeps moving forward at a brisk pace while reintroducing many key elements of the Flash mythos is wonderful. And while I have had more than enough of the Professor Zoom, the Reverse-Flash, his plans here are much simplier and remind us of the 1970’s when he was more of the opposite Flash much like Sinestro was the opposite Green Lantern and Bizarro was the reverse Superman. And with cameos galore and *SPOILERS* appearance, you sit it awe of what is coming to an epic conclusion and the return of *SPOILERS*. With multiple artist strutting their stuff, you might want to jump back a few issues for the full effect! Finally, somebody at DC gets it! 10 out of 10 Grahams!

ADVENTUREMAN #3     IMAGE COMICS

Can Matt Fraction tell a tale about a group of pulp fiction adventurers and their larger than life boss? Can he blow the socks off the fans of such classic heroes as Doc Savage and the Avenger? Can he take these old school premises and update them without losing what makes them so beloved? YES HE CAN! And bringing along the talents of Terry and Rachel Dodson for the art, is a moment of genius. After three issues, this title definately keeps up the reader interest and enjoyment. Image Comics definately pulled a winner here. Recommended by readers of Doc’s Corner, I’m glad someone pointed this one out to me. I give it a 10 out of 10 Grahams!

FCBD SUPERMERCADO     ONI PRESS

A dynamic introduction to the world and work of Yehudi Mercaso! Fun for all ages as well as an interesting look at aspect of multiple cultures, this little taste will wet the lips of readers. Whether it’s the beats and rhymes from the comic universe of Sci-Fu or the somewhat insane world of Fun Fun Fun World, Mercado’s imagination is on full display. I give it a 9 out of 10 Grahams.
