ACTION COMICS #1094 DC COMICS
Very few comics have reached this point in publication. And like any story that has gone on for so long, there have been high points and low points. Writer Mark Waid’s story is still interesting as we approach a life changing time in the lives of multiple of the Superman Family. Pete Ross has just discovered the biggest secret in his world and Lana Lang is heading straight for disaster. Superboy’s mission for General Kent is uncomfortable. The Boy of Steel may be helping soldiers but the concept of Superboy working for the military in this way along with his new uniform just isn’t what the character is about. And that is the whole point of the story. But did I like it? I’m not sure. Interesting concepts but uncomfortable reading. Let’s say it’s a 7 out of 10 Grahams.
GEIGER #20 IMAGE COMICS
More clues. More backround on the Northerner. Some promises that the Unknown War maybe revealed. With the Northerner in the future with Geiger, it’s time for a road trip! Meanwhile Nathan, ZigZag, and Junkyard Joe, look for a way to get Joe repaired. This is one of the stories that really establish that the various Ghost Machine worlds are starting to blend nicely together. And also another issue leaving me wanting to read the next issue. 9 out of 10 Grahams.
AQUAMAN #13 DC COMICS
You know, Aquaman used to be such a straight forward comic in the 1960’s. The King of the Seven Seas straddling the line of undersea kingdom and land based adventures. His own rogues gallery. His own teen sidekick. A girlfriend/wife. What we have here, some 64 years later, is quite a shambles. And aren’t we done with this DC KO nonsense yet? And just for the record, giving us a page or two of Aquaman for the latest issue of the KO mini-series to show why Aquaman is too busy to appear in his own title isn’t right. Along with a totally misleading cover promising another side battle between Mera and Andrina is just bad faith. Instead, we get a tale like something out of the Little Mermaid. You would think that in these modern times, someone could come up with a stable, interesting story for one of the big Justice League Seven. 4 out of 10 Grahams.
