Right after Julie Newmar as Catwoman in the 1960’s television show Batman, Josie and the Pussycats were my next favorite women dressed in cat outfits. And this annual also reminds us how Josie and the gang could give the Mystery Inc gang a run for their money in the story department. And with Dan Parent and Dan Decarlo on pencils the girls never looked better as well as Alex and Alexandra. My only question is where is their faithful roadie, Alan? Music, Mystery, and haunted houses. This is classic Saturday Morning cartoons in print form! 8 out of 10 Grahams.
STARSHIP GODZILLA #2 IDW PUBLISHING
I was so hoping with the addition of King Ghidorah, we might be working our way back into the Toho universe but alas it was not to be. And while King Ghidorah does spend a good portion of the story, he doesn’t even act like King Ghidorah. You would think with all the interest in a new Godzilla movie in the works, one of the comic companies could get us some good old fashion kajui action. Sorry to say this isn’t it. King Ghidorah makes it a little better. 5 out 0f 10 Grahams.
HARLEY QUINN X ELVIRA #2 DC/DYNAMITE ENTERTAINMENT
The insanity continues as Harley sets up a heist while Elvira has hallucinations and sells ice cream. Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti are waaaaayyy outside the box with this one. However, it is an amazing read and the art never looked better. Will Harley get her Halloween Bash with special host Elvira? Waiting for the next exciting episode. 8 out of 10 Grahams.
DC FINEST GREEN LANTERN EARTH’S OTHER GREEN LANTERN TPB
A rather deceptive title and cover on this one. I was led to believe that this was going to collect some of Guy Gardner’s early appearances but this is mainly some of the classic Hal Jordan stories. But it does feature the first appearance of Guy from Green Lantern #59. These were the days when Alan Scott would turn up from time to time from Earth 2 for monumental teamups. We also get the first look at the first villain of the Crisis, Krona! And with talented writers and artists such as John Broome, Gardner Fox, Gil Kane, and Sid Greene you really can’t go wrong. 9 out of 10 Grahams.
