Doc’s Reviews For The Week Of July 7th, 2021

SENSATIONAL WONDER WOMAN #5     DC COMICS

Amy Chu’s story hits a home run in all the catagories that matter. And that ending is down right uplifting. I do love a good tale that ends with the mean old villian getting their comeuppance! And with Maria Laura Sanapo’s art and Wendy Broome’s colors, this one is definately worth the price of admission! This is what a Wonder Woman story should be! I give it a 9 out of 10 Grahams.

CRIME SYNDICATE #5     DC COMICS

Things are really starting to get complicated as we side track to the introduction of the Legion of Justice (Reverse Legion of Doom … get it?!) And somehow, we’ve manged to wittle the Crime Syndicate down to the opposite version of the classic DC triangle of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. I’m a bit disappointed that what started out as an updated version of the evil Earth-3 seems to have gotten caught up in the whole DC “Next Big Thing” concept. New Gods, Batman villians, etc. just keep popping up. And with only one issue left in this 6 part mini-series, I don’t see where this is going? Whatever happened to the good old days when President John Wilkes Booth was assasinated by actor Abe Lincoln? 5 out of 6 meandering issues … why do I get the impression that this will end on a cliffhanger that will be revisited in some other title in the future? I give it 5 out of 10 Grahams.
