Doc’s Reviews For The Week of 10/28/2020

BATMAN/SUPERMAN #13     DC COMICS

Joshua Williamson’s story continues to build interest. The AI suspected of being Brainiac is a pleasant surprize (Spoiler!) as it isn’t Brainiac! The overall concept is good but in all honesty has been done before. Can anyone say OMAC? But putting that off to the side, the interaction between the robot versions of the Rogue’s Gallery is well done. But the conclusions of the AI at the end of this installment don’t inspire and the new/old character at the end of this installment doesn’t do anything for me. I give it a 7 out of 10 Grahams.

SAVAGE AVENGERS #13     MARVEL COMICS

Take one part original Defenders, one part Champions (original series), throw in a few high profile heroes that always bring in a buck and a few weirdies to keep the other side happy and there you have it. Gerry Duggan manages to keep his tale intriguing with a few spotlights of humor. Patch Zircher’s art manages to do justice to the various characters from Black Widow to Conan. However, it is impossible not to connect this with the 1990’s title Secret Defenders. Not sure how this qualifies as an Avengers title but I’m old school. I give it a 7 out of 10 Grahams.
