FCBD JACK KIRBY EPIC LIFE OF THE KING OF COMICS     TEN SPEED PRESS

The beginning chapter of Tom Scioli’s look at the life and times of the artist we all call King! Presented with a personal voiceover, the factors that shaped the King of Comics highlights the paths he could have chosen and how his mother helped keep him on the straight and narrow. With Scioli’s wonderful take on some of the classic images from the Golden Age of Marvel/Atlas, this is a terrific teaser for the upcoming volume! Definately a 10 out of 10 Grahams.

BLACK WIDOW #1     MARVEL COMICS

She’s back! And after numerous takes on the classic character, it’s Kelly Thompson and Elana Casagrande’s turn. So far they are doing a good job. With plenty of action-y moments and a few cameos by the core group of her menfolk, this is an entertaining opening act that covers many of the Black Widow-isms of the past. Whether it be breaking and entering, classic spy stuff, or witty repartee, this is the fan loved Nat at her best. And just why can’t Arcade kill her? All this and more await you inside this title. I give it an 8 out of 10 Grahams.
