Doc’s Reviews for the Week of 12/4/2019

THOR THE WORTHY #1     MARVEL COMICS

I can’t believe I actually beat Rick Berg to this review! An all star celebrity cast of writers and artists return to the pages of Thor! Small vinettes with our main Thors from the years stop by to remind us how great the character is. This is definately a must have for all fans of Thor, big and small. Even Thunderstrike is cool in this one! I give it a 9 out of 10 Grahams.

NEW YEAR’S EVIL #1     DC COMICS

While I hate to admit it, this little holiday special is really something. While focasing on the more popular villians, a few second stringers get a chance including the Toyman and the Prankster. What’s more is that the stories here are really well written and are a joy to read. From the Joker dealing with an imposter to Chronos trying to fix time, all of the stories here are worth reading every word. And the artist teams here take those stories and run with them. A definate holiday classic. I give it a 9 out of 10 Grahams.

TALES OF THE NIGHT WATCHMAN #1     SO WHAT? PRESS

This one’s got it all! A time travelling plot to eliminate an early super-heroine. A totally bonkers team up effort between characters from different publishers like some sort of bizarro Brave & the Bold title! Interesting characters and plot done by their creators (who know them best!). This is one of those books that slip under the radar. But I highly advise you hunt this one down! I give it a 10 out of 10 Grahams.

DISNEY THE LITTLE MERMAID #2     DARK HORSE COMICS

Dark Horse contunues to tell the original story of Ariel and Sebastian in this series designed for Disney fans both old and young. With Zulema Scotto Lavina’ beautiful art highlighted by Piky Hamilton’s colors, this is a real treat. Worth the time to revisit this classic tale. I give it an 8 out of 10 Grahams.
