FREEDOM FIGHTERS #6     DC COMICS

Writer Robert Venditti surprises even me with this newest installment. Not only does he not make Overman, the ultimate unstoppable villain I feared he might have but he brings about an identity switch up that even caught me off guard. Plots and counter plots begin and some backround into the new members of the Freedom Fighters. Best part is that the character of the Blue Tracer who not only survives another battle but is treated like one of the main group. This is a wonderful continuation of the history of Earth X. I give it a 10 out of 10 Grahams.

SCOOBY-DOO TEAM-UP #48     DC COMICS

Flash fans rejoice! As we get to revisit the 1970’s world of the Flash. While not the largest group of DC villains, the Flash’s Rogues Gallery was by far the most entertaining of the groups. Aside from their camaraderie, their costumes and their weapons are simply the best. With the Scooby gang trying to both help and arrest the Rogues at the same time, it’s Shaggy who actually saves the day. Add in a copy of guest stars including Dexter Myles, the curator of the Flash museum. As always, Sholly Fisch and Dario Brizuela do a great job of recreating that time in comic’s history. I give it a 10 out of 10 Grahams.

DIAL H FOR HERO #3     DC/WONDER COMICS

Sam Humphries has definitely done his research and has enjoyed every minute of it. From the design of the Heroverse, the flashbacks, the new super-heroes called forth from the dial (all women this issue!), the guest appearance of the original leader of the Thunderbolt Club, and the return of Robbie Reed, this one is pure nostalgia! With the talents of Joe Quinones and Arist Deyn adding in their illustraions, this title has an amazing future ahead of it. Hopefully, the powers that be at DC also agree. I give it a 9 out of 10 Grahams.

ELVIRA MISTRESS OF THE DARK SPRING SPECIAL #1     DYNAMITE COMICS

How do you make an Elvira book even better? First, you turn over art to such talented people as Dan Parent and Fernando Ruiz, that’s how! The plots here are right on point with the classic Elrira series from Claypool Comics. While bouncing thru some famous horror films of recent years, everyone’s favorite Hostess with the Mostess is there with her humor and sexiness. The tales here are spot on and will keep any Elvira fan happy. I give it a 9 out 10 Grahams.
