NANCY IN HELL #3    AMIGO COMICS

With no-spoilers in effect, this issue of Nancy in Hell throws out some interesting yet somewhat confusing plot twists, these keep the story fresh but start taking off the beaten path. With only 1 issue to go, I find it hard to believe that this is coming to a complete logical ending. I give it a 7 out of 10 Grahams.

ENCOUNTER #7     CARACAL COMICS

This all ages title continues to keep moving forward with simple but interesting storylines. With the heroes and secondary characters backstories secure, it’s time to bring on more new Rogues Gallery members. And this issues StareMaster is another perfect fit. And with the cliff-hangar reveal about mysterious character Champion, this series may be able to teach the bigger boys how to keep their comics entertaining and readable. I give it a 9 out of 10 Grahams.

MARVEL ZOMBIE #1     MARVEL COMICS

Just when I thought Marvel couldn’t beat the (No pun intended) horse, we get yet another look at the universe of the Marvel Zombies. And while it is an amusing little tale, it really serves no purpose. And what’s worse is that poor Simon Garth (Marvel’s original zombie from the 1973 magazine Tales of the Zombie) is tragicly misused here. I’m pretty sure that this is not what creator Steve Gerber had in mind. Not sure what prompted Marvel to spring this lit bag of dog poop on our front porches but don’t stomp on in.  I give it a 3 out of 10 Grahams.

WAR OF THE INDEPENDANTS TIE IN #1     RED ANVIL

To be perfectly honest, I didn’t even realize that this series was still around. In 2011, independent publishing house Red Anvil, took on a mammoth under taking. By creating a crossover of such epic proportions that over 200 independent characters were scheduled to appear including such heroes as Mr. Monster, Gumby, the Pro, Bombqueen, etc, etc. Apparently, this tale is still going on behind the scenes, and I welcome it back with open arms. However, it did make me have to pull out the prior issues to reboot my memory. I give it a 9 out of 10.
