COMMANDERS IN CRISIS #1     IMAGE COMICS When it comes to storylines that make you think, writer Steve Orlando thinks big. Someone or something is trying to destroy the universe. What we quickly find out is that the universe we are in is the only one left and hides refugees from other parts of the … Read more

TRANSFORMERS/BACK TO THE FUTURE #1     IDW COMICS

Sigh. Another cross title toy promotion. Unfortunately for crusty old reviewers like me, Cavan Scott’s story makes this more than expected. The story slips inbetween the events of the first movie seemlessly and makes sense. And the branching into the alternate future of Hill Valley works just like it does in the movies. And Juan Samu’s art bring a happy median to the robotic universe of the Transformers and the real life images from the films. A pleasant surprise! I give it a 7 out of 10 Grahams.

DARK KNIGHTS DEATH METAL MULTIVERSE’S END #1     DC COMICS Another of the seemingly endless tie ins to the Dark Knights storyline. However this one offers up a bit of charm and ingenuity that spotlights wiriter James Tynion IV’s talents. METAL MEN #10     DC COMICS All these years of reading and reviewing comics have taught me certain telltale signs of where a storyline is going. RISE OF ULTRAMAN #1     MARVEL COMICS This book has a little bit of everything for the Ultraman fan. METAL MEN #9     DC COMICS Dan Didio and Shane Davis continue to keep story interesting and fun even though it is heading straight into the Dark Metal nonsence. FLASH #759     DC COMICS Joshua Williamson’s writing skills are on full display here. His tale which keeps moving forward at a brisk pace while reintroducing many key elements of the Flash mythos is wonderful. And while I have had more than enough of the Professor Zoom, the Reverse-Flash, his plans here are much simplier … Read more

STRANGE ADVENTURES #4     DC COMICS Aggravating. Tom King’s story is certainly interesting with this issue seemingly to lead us to believe that Adam Strange has been a pawn of Rann for his entire career. With (perhaps) Adam’s wife and father-in-law in on it. And it is here that my aggravation starts. Since the early … Read more
