Doc’s Reviews for the Week of 11/07/18

DIE KITTY DIE HEAVEN & HELL #0, #1, #2     CHAPTERHOUSE COMICS

The mystery of Kitty’s death continues in this new series. Ruiz and Parent story cleaverly continues the hunt for clues and reintroduces several secondary characters. Along with their sexy Archie art style which keeps up the quality of the title. The only problem is the executive decision of releasing issues #0, #1, and #2 all in the same week. I mean, I’ve got 1/2 a graphic novel here. I give it all an 8 out of 10 Grahams.

DOCTOR WHO 13TH DOCTOR     TITAN COMICS

The creative team on the new Doctor’s series have a good grasp of the newest regeneration. And Jody Houser’s script does seem to be just that. As the story comes off like a televised episode. However, the comic (much like the television series) seems to have taken on a sort of simplistic approach that I am not a big fan of. I give it a 7 out of 10 Grahams.

GREEN LANTERN #1     DC COMICS

Once again, I am forced to ask the question of restarting titles with new number #1s for a lack of a good reason. With that out of the way, DC’s newest volume of Green Lantern does seem to have a lot to offer. We get the return (again) of Hal Jordan as well as his womanizing personality. We have tons (and I mean tons) of action and adventure from the Green Lantern Corps. A new unseen villain that even the Guardians are worried about. And an epic recharge of the ring. All in all, it looks like we may have a decent title going here. We’ll see.
