Happy Pride Month 2026! It is vital that we celebrate and treasure the LGBTQIA+ folk that we know in our lives as our friends, family and neighbors. Regardless of where we come from, we all deserve to be treated with dignity, respect, kindness and consideration. That means standing tall and proudly with your sisters, brothers, genderqueer folk, nonbinary friends and beyond. Support your local Drag Queens, and Trans folks who may be in need during these harsh times.
Queer and LGBTQIA+ comics have been popularized much in the 2010s as Harlivy (Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy from DC’s Batman comics) took over the scene when they became an established couple (after decades of hinting) in Harley Quinn #25 from 2015. This radically changed the lore of Batman’s most iconic villain the Joker when Harley realized that the Joker sucks! as a partner… in the 2010s fans were ecstatic to see some queer representation in the mainstream comic book company that is DC comics. I know I was one of those kids who was astounded to see Harley go from an extremely toxic relationship to one with a plant loving “calm” but super smart girlfriend and it felt good to see Harley get the love she deserved.
Where much of Harley Quinns bisexuality gets the focus, I wanted to shout out some important Lesbian and Sapphic comic books… Starting with a special mention, a comic book that has ran recently as of this year from February-March of 2026:
….Wait? what is the difference between “Lesbian” & “Sapphic”?
Lesbian is a sexual orientation where folks of any gender are exclusively attracted to women! As for sapphic is an umbrella descriptive word usually can appear in acronyms like “WLW” which is “women loving women”.

This comic mini-series was SUCH a fun and fantastic read! This story focuses on Black Canary, Catwoman, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn as they must figure out an astrological killer that attacks the women of Gotham city according to their horoscopes! With so much going on in their personal lives they must navigate working together with their different morales towards vigilantism and work together to stop the serial killer and protect the women of Gotham City. This comic has some spicy moments as much as it has some hilarious ones. This story delves into the many facets of womanhood (and the many different types of amazing outfits for each occasion). It has some great “somewhat” slow burn scenes of Harlivy and each character has a very distinct personality you can’t help but admire! t’s defiantly a comic book for the girls 💅
Dark Knights of Steel
Written by Tom Taylor & Illustrated by Yasmine Putri
This comic book is an else worlds story where the DC universe is reimagined as a medieval fantasy where Superman and his family all crashed to earth and took over the throne as the “House of El”. With Batman protecting them as an actual knight we get to learn about the many magical secrets of the kingdom ran by superpowered monarchy. This comic has many rich moments and honors the characters of DC comics as it fleshes them out in a different reality. There is Harlivy in this story… however there is another sapphic couple in this story that had completely taken me by surprise (hint in the photo!) but I immediately loved their love (yes even if it’s messy). This graphic novel was written in November 2021 and has had a couple of other stories that are attached with this mainline series which are Dark Knights of Steel: Tales from the Three Kingdoms & Dark Knights of Steel: Allwinter. The sequel series Dark Knights Of Steel II is set to come out July 15 so get those preorders in ASAP!
Runaways: Pride and Joy
Written by Brian K Vaughn & Illustrated by Adrian Alphona
This story follows some kids who realize that their parents are a part of a supervillain organization called “The Pride” that hunts down mutant children. The kids decide to run away from their super villain parents and come together to help each other against the attacks of “The Pride” organization in this self- discovery story and help other mutant children from facing an awful fate. This story has a fan favorite “WLW” slow burn love that many fans have wanted to be together for a long time. You could start this series at this graphic novel and follow along with the slow burn, or you could check out the new graphic novel story Runaways: That Was Yesterday (Vol.6) where the lovers- Karolina and Nico navigate being in a relationship.
Blink and You’ll Miss it
Written by Ethan S. Parker & Griffin Sheridan & Illustrated by Keith Browning
This comic book admittedly is a little harder for me to describe but I will try my best. This comic is set in a “humble” small town that become possessed with mind controlling aliens that take over the “white picket fence” town and put the people into a trance where they relive their lives and stuck in a loop of their memories. The whole town is in a deep hypnosis while the rest of the world has been destroyed- this small town is the only town that remains. The main character Melody is suspicious as she notices something off… a person who is missing from the equation- her girlfriend Jesse Harmon. Together they unravel the secrets of the distorted town and discover the truth of the aliens and the world.
These are some of my favorite Lesbian and Sapphic love stories I have read in the past couple of months that I thought would be great to read during pride month! Keep a lookout for Marvel and DC’s Pride specials that come out every June to celebrate LQBGTIA+ stories of every kind. Happy reading!
