Summer 2025 is shaping up to be a joy to go back to the movie theaters with both DC Comics and Marvel’s heavy hitters on the big screen in July.
First up is the brand new James Gunn SUPERMAN movie. SUPERMAN the movie will be out in theaters the weekend of July 11th. I personally am trying to avoid spoilers and not watch all the advanced trailers that are available right now. I have seen enough to know that it looks to be a bright vibrant super-hero filled world filled with a vast array of DC heroes and villains. I stopped watching when (spoilers) Krypto the Superdog makes his big screen entrance. Not much of a spoiler, most know the Super-pup will be in the new SUPERMAN feature-film.
If you cannot wait until then, stop in to check out the newest DC Comics SUPERMAN comic book titles currently on the rack. DC Comics publishes the new issues of SUPERMAN, ACTION COMICS and the other-worldly ABSOLUTE SUPERMAN comic books monthly. Here you’ll find new adventures featuring friends and foes from his past and future including an epic battle with Doomsday!
Later this summer DC Comics will fill the comic book racks with other SUPERMAN related titles like SUPERMAN UNLIMITED, SUPERGIRL and the long awaited limited series KRYPTO, THE LAST DOG OF KRYPTON! This 5 issue mini-series will focus on Krypto’s early adventures and first meetings of DC Comics key characters. Writer Ryan North and artist Mike Norton will explore just what makes Krypto a very good boy!
Marvel Entertainment’s new summer blockbuster FANTASTIC FOUR will get its theatrical release just days later. In theaters the weekend of July 25th, FANTASTIC FOUR the movie reboots Marvel Comics Fabulous Foursome to an alternate universe set in the retro-futuristic 1960’s inspired world. Galactus, the Eater of Worlds has been confirmed as the main villain. Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Marvel’s First Family—Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Joseph Quinn) and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), who must defend Earth from the ravenous space god, Galactus.
The FANTASTIC FOUR movie trailer is a mix of sixties nostalgia and superhero techno-speak. This bright and retro-version of the FF looks very promising and Marvel Comics is following up the movie with a brand new Fantastic Four monthly comic book series following the team exploits with the infamous DOCTOR DOOM. This new series continues to be written by current FF scribe and KRYPTO, THE LAST DOG OF KRYPTON writer Ryan North now aided by superstar artist who set the comic book world on fire with his awesome renditions of your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, Humberto Ramos! Fantastic Four #1 even features an extra-big, extra-special Ben Grimm fight with a dinosaur!
Next month even sees the return of a solo Ben Grimm series with the new THING five part mini-series written by Stray Dogs writer Tony Fleecs showcasing The Thing as the heart of the vast Marvel Universe. Another fun series by a writer who is the heart of Image Comics’ Feral series.
Both Marvel and DC Comics seem to have adopted the GRAHAM CRACKERS COMICS WHERE COMICS ARE FUN AGAIN motto!
