Free Comic Book Day Survival Guide 2023 by John E. – Graham Crackers Comics

Free Comic Book Day Survival Guide 2023 by John E.

It’s that time of year again!  FREE COMIC BOOK DAY, the first Saturday of May, is like Christmas for Comic fans, adult and child alike!
“You, yes you are the next contestant on The Price Is Right so come on down!”  As this happens once a year, here is your annual reminder and tips to make your day go by much smoother.

How it works:
Stop on in. All of our shops will have a display set up with all of the available books.  You get to pick 3 different ones per person (limit one of each book). That’s it. It’s that simple!
But wait! There’s more!  Not good with just 3 books? There are 2 ways to get more!
* While in store, write a review for the store location!  – unlock 3 additional books!
* Do you have a costume? By costume we are talking COSTUME, not just a costume shirt or hoodie. Wear a comic/super-hero costume into the store for FCBD – unlock 3 additional books!

That’s right! By leaving a Google review for the store and wearing a costume, you can get up to 9 Free Comic Book Day comics!

And now onto the Survival Guide.

1) Plan accordingly.  There will be a line out the door first thing in the morning. Make sure to eat a healthy breakfast (not just a stick of beef jerky and bottle of Mountain Dew.  Looking at you, person in the mirror) and stay hydrated. Make sure to check out our FCBD page with what is available so you don’t end up not knowing what you want for your last pick.  If there are more than 3 books you would like, just remember from above, write a review in store and show it to the employee at the FCBD table  or where a cosplay and you can get additional books!  Also, just keep in mind, it’s not just the FCBD books from this year.  Previous year’s FCBD Titles will be available as well (stock permitting).  If there is a book you absolutely want to make sure you get, make sure to get to the stores early.  Need help deciding on what you want to check out?

2) Map out your route.  We have many people who come in that also check out our other store locations.  As you know, we have 10 shops in Illinois, 1 in Madison, Wisconsin and 1 out in Murrieta, California.  As stated, many people try to hit as many of our stores as they can so plan your route out a few days before hand.  Google maps has a nice feature that is like a pinpoint so you can see roughly how much time you will be spending between shops.  Figure out if you plan on going North to south, East to West, starting way out in DeKalb or Normal and work your way to the city, or vise versa.  The more you plan, the smoother your day will go.  Also, pack snacks accordingly.

3) Browse around.  There is more to FCBD than just free books.  We have massive amounts of Toys, Statues, Collectibles and more!  Is there a graphic novel you’ve been meaning to check out? There’s a great chance we may have it and if we are out at one location, we can always special order it from one of our other shops (have I mentioned we have 12 physical stores? ‘Cause we do).  We have recently restocked on many Trades, Toys, Back Issues, RPG handbooks, Dice and each store just received in a large shipment of Funko Pops so there is plenty to see!

4) Free Comic Book Day ONLINE.  Remember that handy link above?  Are you not able to get to the stores but still want to get certain titles?  You are in luck. Our website ships worldwide!  The Free Comic Book Day Page can be visited here. Same rules apply.  Limit 3 books, 1 copy each per customer.  No exceptions.  Standard shipping and handling apply, Mail Order ONLY.  Titles will be available to order Saturday, May 6th.
NOTICE: In store pickup option will be turned off for Free Comic Book Day. Any questions regarding online orders, please contact notification@grahamcrackers.com.

5) Things to remember:
*Do not come in expecting us to look at collections. There simply will not be any time this day to do so.
*If there is a FCBD book we are out of, we are sorry, but it is first come first served.  Just remember we do have our other stores and the website so if one location is sold out, we may still have it at another.
*If there is something you change your mind on, please do not put back in random locations. Please bring it to us and we can put it back where it belongs. For example, nobody likes to find a gallon of milk mixed in by the bleach at the grocery store.
*If there is a regular item we are out of, we can special order and check our other stores at no cost to you.
*If you have trash, please bring it to the counter so we can dispose of it properly. Do not leave litter around the store.

Free Comic Book Day made easy. Get it? Got it?  Good.
Our stores will be open regular Saturday hours. Just remember, the more you plan out the day, the smoother and more stress-free it will go for you.
Looking forward to seeing everyone, so let’s make it a fun day!
