THE ALMIGHTY STREET TEAM UNIVERSE GUIDE #1     STREET TEAM STUDIOS

Anyone who ever dreamed of creating their own comic team has done a version of this idea. Having the back round story and costume details at the tips of your fingers is always helpful. So when the creative team from Street Team Studios handed me their #0 issue, I worked my way into their good graces for a copy of their guidebook. Issue #0 is a wonderful example of the team-up book with characters for several different creators banding together to fight the epic battle. But the concepts, the definition of powers, the subtle costume details are all here in these pages. I’m a big research guy and so getting to see the back stories on such characters as Smilez and Stalker was wonderful. I love to see the development of characters from other creators. The heroes and villains of the Almighty Street Team Universes can be found through many multimedia sources including facebook.com/ShawnAlleynet, @Pyroglyphocs1, @ShawnAlleyneArt, shwnah-lean.blogspot.com, and pyroglyphs1@comcast.net. I give both books 10 out of 10.

LA CHAMBA #1-3     SKETCH HOUSE PRESS

I have been a fan of this small black and white title since it first came out and I can back that claim up!

#1 – I’m not all that familiar with publisher Sketch House Press but I am impressed with the uniqueness of this title. Working in the city of Chicago designing restaurants, I am quite familiar with the sight of street vendors and the joys they can bring as the walk down the street. So to give a book to print based on the recollections of this iconic workforce is amazing and a gutsy move. It is apparent that writer/artist/ all around one man show Ricardo “Naco” Gonzalez remembers these people with love in his heart. Short on pages, this book nevertheless delivers an informative and heart-felt look into the lives of these people.

Now that I have meet them in person, I am even more impressed by their creative drive and desire to get these stories out into the main stream. Currently on issue #3, I hope they can continue the title. The stories are light-hearted and have a tendency to show the goodness in people. In today’s world, I think those stories are most important. Title gets a 10 out of 10 no matter what issue you’re reading.
