The T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents are dead, or will soon be, unless new recruit Dynamo can master the incredible but lethal power of the Thunderbelt in time to rescue his teammates from the mysterious Iron Maiden. The timeless heroes return to comics with a vengeance in this blistering first issue from writer Phil Hester (Godzilla, Invincible Universe, Wonder Woman) and artist Andrea Di Vito (Dungeons & Dragons)!

Every time I hear that Thunder Agents is coming back for another go round, I secretly giggle. Back in the 1960's when the title was being put out by Tower Comics, it was a title that had mass appeal. It successfully combined the then current fade of super spies (such as Man for Uncle and I Spy) with the traditional superhero themes at the time. We had a super...man, a speedster, a mentalist ala the Doom Patrol's Mento, and an interesting cross between a mystery Batman type and the Red Tornado. The problem is that I think that the cases that the Thunder Agents deal in are ones that don't promote an ongoing series. At least 6 different companies have resurrected the team from Limbo only to return it there after a dozen issue or so. Although this series is starting off slow, (Remember the rule of Number 1 issues people!) writer Phil Hester may be pacing the storyline as not to blow through it in a matter of six or eight issues. This is a series I'd like to see get past a 25th issue.

I give it 6 out of 10 Grahams
