Yukio was destroyed in battle and Tetsuo survived in an escape pod. After eight years in cold sleep, the escape pod finally lands back on Earth, and Tetsuo awakens, determined to fulfill his promise to his comrade in arms that he would live his life to the fullest and make many friends. But what he finds instead is a world in ruins, entirely frozen beneath a blanket of ice and snow-a snowball Earth! What happened to humanity, how did the Earth freeze over, and will Tetsuo be able to keep his last promise to Yukio?

Snow Ball Earth is a series I would recommend to readers that don't typically pick up Manga for it's got an easy premise to get into without powerups, transformation sequences, or a magic power system that makes you feel like you're learning 3D chess for the first time. Snow Ball Earth is about a young boy who saved Earth from a threat intergalatic Kaijus, and upon his return to earth (which takes 8 years for him) he finds Earth to be in a new ice age and civilization has become an icey wasteland. It's very similar to mech Cadet from BOOM Studios but set in a post-apocalyptic world. The Kaiju designs are great, the giant mech design is classic and simple, and the main character is reliable for someone who's spent his formative years fighting space Kaiju.

I give it 8 out of 10 Grahams
