VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
(W) Chip Zdarsky
(A/CA) Michael Walsh
For the fifth installment of horror anthology THE SILVER COIN from MICHAEL WALSH, CHIP ZDARSKY, KELLY THOMPSON, ED BRISSON, and JEFF LEMIRE, the story reaches back to when the coin's cruel curse was first minted. In a small New England village, a woman has been accused of witchcraft.

BONUS REVIEW by Kevin Healy

This is as close as we'll get to a Black Phillip comic, so it gets all sorts of points long before we talk about how good this series was. Or should I say 'is'? DUH-Duh-duh...

Simple premise horror works great if the premise is sound. It is. There's a silver coin that gives the owner great success, right up until the point it doesn't. This issue covers the origin of the coin. There's full on puritanical oppression mixed in with good amounts of milk, horses, eye boils, and goats.

If money isn't evil, but what you do with money can be, please remember not to use money to sell out your friends.

This title, already extended, will be continuing as new creative teams take over from creator Michael Walsh telling more tales of shiny justice. That's good news.

I give it 9 out of 10 Grahams
