Tomorrow is a harmonious paradise thanks to the careful oversight of five families who make everything perfect… for the price of one child per household. Now, as that bill comes due, a son expected to give everything for a family that never loved him, and an affluent daughter determined to destroy utopia, must unite to end one generation's unnaturally protracted reign. Bestselling writer RICK REMENDER (LOW, DEADLY CLASS, Uncanny X-Force) joins forces with the insanely talented MAX FIUMARA (Amazing Spider-Man, FOUR EYES, Lucifer) to take you through the dark science fiction world of THE SACRIFICERS! BONUS REVIEW by Anthony Fograse

“Hey Anthony! Did you read (insert new release here)?”
“Yeah! It was cool!”
“Nice! What’s it about?”
“I…I honestly don’t even know”
It’s a thing that happens sometimes.
World building from scratch is a difficult task, especially when you’re trying to squeeze it into a FCBD teaser issue with 19 pages of story. As a fan of anything written by Rick Remender, I was excited to dive into his latest offering, The Sacrificers. Depending on how you felt about some of his most recent books like Scumbag or A Righteous Thirst For Vengeance, this is absolutely nothing like either of those!
Artist Max Fiumara (Abe Sapien/BPRD, Lucifer, etc.) DOES deliver some very striking pages so, if nothing else, it is a treat to look at. You have your standard cast of characters: the blue birdlike peasants, the assumedly evil monarch who’s…made out of fire…that apparently has the ability to summon flaming salamanders and of course, your run-of-the-mill Baphomet-type slave owner and a monster seemingly made out of raw hamburger as his right-hand man! I don’t know, it’s weird and depressing and DIFFERENT which is all I really ask of my Rick Remender comics these days so I’ll be sticking with it when the first issue drops later this year.

I give it 7 out of 10 Grahams
