Free Comic Book Day is not just a fun day for customers. It’s the best day of the year for us, too. This year it is Saturday May 2nd. Free Comic Book Day or Comics Giveaway Day happens only once a year. It always takes place on the first Saturday in May and is a Comic Shop Super-Event started many years ago in the tradition of giveaways like Baskin-Robbin’s Free Scoop Day.
Customers come to comic shops on that day to sample something new. It’s early spring, and things are greening up all around us. The days are getting warmer and longer. It’s the time of the year we all look forward to. And in the ever-changing world of comic books, it’s also a time that we get to see glimpses into the future too. It’s time to check out what’s around the corner. Come on down to your favorite Graham Crackers Comics shop and experience JOY. Bring the whole family and take home even MORE JOY!
Now it’s a bit of work moving around the whole store and making sure we are well stocked with a super-selection of these shiny new freebees, but these comic book samplers are what the day is created for, but it is much more than that. Free Comic Book Day is really a celebration of the world of comic books and the people who love them. Started as a way to get the word out from comic book creators and publishers it is still the best way to get your comic seen by the most people at one time!

Participation is simple: three free comic books* (from the Free Comic Book Day/Comics Giveaway Day selection, please don’t ask for Hulk 181 for free, you’ll make things weird and sad) per person. You can get one more if you dress in costume – a real costume, not just a ball-cap and t-shirt. AND! some of our locations are also participating in food drives, and if you bring in some non-perishables or cans of food donations to the store you can also receive 1 more book per person.
