Blackest Night #8 is going to feel like it skipped a huge hunk of story, because it takes place here. Xanshi is plummeting to Earth, and in Blackest Night #8 it won’t be anymore. Don’t miss the history of the universe in this issue, where Geoff Johns literally defines the birth of life on Earth, delicately pinpointing the beginning of each source of Corps, beginning with Will. This is the best writing Johns has done since this event began. Darkness is closing in around our heroes, and in this issue they actually kick some butt! I’ve been tired of watching confrontation after confrontation not end and just continue in the next issue, and so on. Our group of multi-colored heroes actually DO something in this issue, rather than discuss how awful it is battling their dead companions. That may sound harsh, but this event has been stuck in a perpetual battle, and it’s refreshing to see an end in sight. Fans of Sinestro REJOICE! His moment of glory has arrived.
I give it 10 out of 10 Grahams
