No one could have anticipated that Cyclops would be the beauty of a book it is. Certainly not me as my conception of the X-Men's universe is constantly expanding. Then again, I would never have been able to predict the original X-Men coming to the present day and Cyclops running off for space adventures with his long-thought-dead dad. The Marvel Universe can be so surprising sometimes! This book would be just as good if it was about any space-faring father and son, but that it comes with a rich history attached makes it all the more special. I have never really liked the character Cyclops, but this is the story that is showing me his complexity and charms. Plus, he has a really cool dad who wants to teach him sword-fighting as a means to teach him about hope. The artwork is beautiful with some of the loveliest coloring in recent memory! This is a great book and I'm sad Rucka must leave after the next issue (Whyyy!?!?!). I don't want another writer wrapping up this engaging arc, but I also don't want it wrapped up so soon!

I give it 9 out of 10 Grahams
