If anyone has any information/history on Bob Bolling or his Little Archie work - please
e-mail me.. I'd love to know, and I'll pass on anything of interest  through these pages!
I'm especially looking for arrival date stamps on copies that you might have in your collection that are NOT noted on my list to the left.

Click on this EVENTS link to vote for BOB BOLLING's LITTLE ARCHIE as the best comic(s) ever made!  You can only vote once (it uses cookies) so please choose Bob's LITTLE ARCHIE!  I believe this is a GERMAN site - just search for BOB BOLLING - you'll find it.

Welcome to the LITTLE ARCHIE back issue page!

What's so special about Little Archie comics?  Easy, they're the best damn comics ever made.  Well, at least the Bob Bolling issues...

     Born in 1928,
Bob Bolling is the creative genius behind LITTLE ARCHIE.  Having worked on issues #1-38 (roughly) plus the two LITTLE ARCHIE MYSTERY comics and the four LITTLE ARCHIE in ANIMAL LAND comics plus one cool mail away coloring book.

Bob didn't return to his creation until a fill in story on issue #87...and then finally back for awhile with issue #140.
While a good chunk of his work was reprinted in various Archie Digests, I spent YEARS searching for his early work.  It literally took me 10 years to find a Little Archie #1, and nothing beat the thrill of opening an issue and finding a story I'd never seen before!  I was fortunate to have been exposed to most of his work via the DIGEST reprints in the mid 70's and from there tried to track down the original issues.  Unlike the often compared to Carl Barks Donald Duck books, Bob's Little Archie's have never been collected in any kind of comprehensive editions.  Archie did finally publish a LITTLE ARCHIE trade paperback collecting some of Bob's work (see here) -- but there are still many Bolling stories that have yet to be re-printed.

I'll be listing the entire Bolling series below, for sale at outrageous prices, with as much linear notes as I can find the time to provide....

MARCH 2004

COMIC BOOK ARTIST issue with in depth interviews with both BOB BOLLING and DEXTER TAYLOR!
I've added this issue to the website for anyone that want's to order it.  I'm sure there's a few of you that don't have a decent comic store near you to get a copy.  Clicking on the cover will start the order...

Interviews were conducted by Little Archie fan Gary Brown - everyone should have a copy of this magazine!

JULY 2004

Archie finally compiles an ALL BOB BOLLING Little Archie trade paperback!  Bright white paper - the reproductions pretty good - limited to ONLY Little Archie adventures stories - they did pick some of the best ones.  I believe this is the first ARCHIE book to spotlight the work of just ONE CREATOR (and intentionally)

FEB. 2007
Amazingly, I finally got to meet Bob Bolling.
I hate going to comic conventions, I really do.  You'd think with spending my life selling comics for a living and operating a 9 store chain you'd think I'd enjoy it more.  I don't.  Luckily my partner does enjoy them and does about 30+ shows a year so I don't have to.  What could possibly get me to attend an out of state comic covention?  Bob Bolling & Dexter Taylor were appearing at the ORLANDO MEGACON - I made flight arrangements, stayed with my good friend Jack Copley (Jack has every Archie comic ever made - the largest & finest collection bar none) and made arragements through long time Little Archie fan Gary Brown to meet & have dinner with Bob, Dexter and their wives.

I met both couples at the show - purchased some artwork (that they were both selling for too cheap!).  Honestly I have too much artwork in my collection as it is - but wanted to see some money go directly to the both of them.  Thanks to Gary Brown I was able to also take them out to dinner and get a chance to talk to the two of them.  I'll post some lousy photos I took with my 'camera phone' later.

MAY 5th,  2007

FREE COMIC BOOK DAY for Archie is a BRAND NEW full story LITTLE ARCHIE adventure.  Bob was kind enough to show me some photocopies at the show and it looks great!  Make sure you visit a local comic store on the 1st Saturday of MAY and get yourself a FREE copy.  We will also have them available on the site that day as well.

Coliseum of Comics in Orlando will be hosting a rare Bob Bolling appearance from 10 am-12:30 pm.  Bob will be signing comics and chatting with fans.  If you live in the Orlando area - I hope you made it!

FEB. 8th,  2008

ARCHIE  comics announced (last month actually) that they'll be doing another LITTLE ARCHIE trade paperback!  Yay!  Vol. 2 will include works from both Bob Bolling & Dexter Taylor!   While often overlooked since he replaced Bob Bolling on the Little Archie series - I believe Dexter holds the record for longest sequential comic run on a COLOR comic series.  Beating both Jack Kirby's FF run as well as Bagley's Ultimate Spider-Man run.  If it's not super-hero comics it doesn't count? Huh?  Anyone know of anyone else that's beaten Dexters run?

LITTLE ARCHIE BOB BOLLING TIMELINE
I'm  putting together the official Bob Bolling Little Archie timeline.  On several issues I've even narrowed it down to the exact week it hit the newstands (by finding copies with arrival date stamps).
Special thanks to Scott Maple who checked his collection and got me 4 new dates to add to the timeline!

If you have the time check yours to see if you have any I'm missing and I'll update this list!
