VERY FINE/NEAR MINT

Written by Ed Brubaker, pencils and cover by Billy Tan

"The Rise and Fall of the Shi'ar Empire," part 5 of 12. The X-Men find themselves deep within Shi'Ar space and even deeper trouble. The Shi'Ar have sent their secret weapon after an unaware Marvel Girl. Meanwhile, Professor X has his hands full with a band of rogue soldiers that have their sights on him. And they are out for blood!

BONUS REVIEW by DAL BUSH

How did this happen? Of all the Brubaker books that Marvel's publishing right now, how did Uncanny become the 2nd best book? Same way it always did: teamwork! Plus, Cap's not so great anymore. An inventive line-up leads to entertaining pair-ups as Brubaker's initial arc chugs along to the middle. The Shi'ar send out someone to deal with Rachel Grey once and for all and the character designs go a bit Final Fantasy 7 in the best X book on the stands, at least until Sean McKeever pitches Cyclops Loves Mary Jane. 8 Grahams
