The best iteration of Vampirella since she made me feel funny in my Sears Toughskins, this book is filled with Christopher Priest-style world building. An iconic character since her debut fifty years ago, the book has vexed many writers, as it requires a delicate balance of horror, pin up style art, and usually some sort of superhero style action. If the rest of the run is as good as this first issue, this is and will continue to be the best run on the title since you had to store it in a magazine bag. The art entirely compliments the writing, offering a clean, almost European style that serves the horror and the hot chick equally well. She's a character that shouldn't really work in a #metoo world, bit with dialogue like "Vampires are the new negroes.", it certainly has a chance. Highly recommended for fans of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue, Christopher Priest readers, and anybody that can acknowledge the words new and improved might have some merit once in a while.

I give it 9 out of 10 Grahams
