BONUS REVIEW by Jake Pierce

How do I review this book without being biased? Being a lifelong fan of TMNT this is the series I've wanted my comic book life, and two issues in it has delivered big time. This issue opens up with our first flashback of what happened to Splinter, April, and the turtles that lead us to this dark timeline. The art is some of the most top notch work I've seen in a TMNT comic, and you can tell this story is something Eastman, Laird, and Waltz REALLY, really want to tell. One of my favorite things to note about this series unrelated to this specific issue is that an independent comic inspired by the dark tales of Frank Miller's Daredevil and The Dark Knight Returns lived a long enough life to have its own dark timeline book. That alone should be enough of a selling point. Any fan of TMNT or the books that inspired it will LOVE The Last Ronin.

I give it 10 out of 10 Grahams
