Reviews

I'm 3 issues in to this series, and every issue has been a complete delight (as well as a nostalgic trip). DC is handling this book correctly in so many ways that I'm not sure the average reader is picking up on.
Skipping why RICK VEITCH's underrated run of SWAMP THING ended before he could properly finish it, the part that matters is DC is finally letting him finish that run. This, in itself, is amazing. What's even better are the following bits that are just the frosting on top of an already delicious cake.
DC is printing it with the old school paper stock to match the previous 1989 issues.
Age-appropriate house ads are in these comics letting people know to be excited about comic events that happened 27 years ago.
Letters page, subscriptions to titles no longer being published, even advertisements for video games and movies that were going to be coming out during 1989. It's all there. These are NOT reprints or facsimiles folks, this has all been done painstakingly by hand to be as age accurate as possible.
The colorists were given the same limited pallets to work with, matching what was available in 89. The modern letterer tried to match the style of the original letterer. There's nothing jarring you out a 1989 comic book reading experience.
Did I mention the story & art are great as well? Certainly helps if you've read the previous issues (which I highly recommend). DC is doing this the right way, and it deserves to be rewarded with strong sales!
