Just before the creation of the Ghost Machine universe, Bryan Hitch had completed the first issue of this book. It was great. You may not remember because it was closer to two years ago than one at this point, so here's the recap: Lex and Clark knew each other growing up. Lex nearly learned his secret then. Jump ahead to Lex dying, and asking Superman to save him. Superman agrees. Pull back to see that Lex has just broadcast to the world that their vaunted hero would risk their lives by saving his nemesis. Guess who was angry about that?

This issue is a travelogue across time and space where at every turn Lex has it crammed down his throat that he's the baddie, and that Superman is universally, chronlogically, beloved. In fact, the only person who has a problem with Superman IS Superman, for a reason we won't spoil here beyond saying its as Supermanny a reason as any reason could be.

And then we get a twist. Needed to, since there's one more issue. Hopefully we'll see that one before 2027.
