Stray Dogs follows in the tradition of 'horrible things happening to animals you love' comics such as Red Rover Charlie and WE3. We have a likeable main cast (w/ two notable exceptions) stuck in a horrific scenario. Over the course of three issues, we've watched a lovable pack of rescued dogs come to find their original owners were all murdered by 'he who brings food'. The closer they get to help, the more risk they incur. The more risk they incur, the closer they get to meeting the same fates as their owners.
Trish Forstner illustrates with a style that puts you squarely in cel animation territory. It plays fully counter to the material, and works perfectly. This title might be unbearable if it was a realistic looking book.
Highly recommended.
