VERY FINE/NEAR MINT

ANDY COLE'S 1ST COMIC!


This isn't my very 1st comic, but it was the one that changed my reading habits. It is Starman #0 from DC. I was a Freshman or Sophmore in college, and I had just started shopping at the Naperville store. At that time I was reading G.I. Joe and Amazing Spider-man, but was looking to branch out. I had grabbed odd issues of Batman here and there, so i asked for help from one of the employees there. The title I was directed to was Starman since it was just starting, and the first issue had blown some people at the store away. I was a little tentative about this book because it was a very big departure from the types of books I had been reading. To top that off it didn't LOOK like the shiny 80's - early 90's Marvel titles I had gotten accustomed to. But this tall "professional" looking guy working there said that he'd refund my money if I didn't like it. As I read the book, the title character gets killed, there were some villians like I never had read before, the hero ended up being VERY reluctant about grabbing the mantle of the fallen character, and the art was perfect for the mood of the book. I have since been rather devoted to the Author (James Robinson) and Penciller (Tony Harris) of that title. And as far as a refund might have had to go, John Robinson never had to pay up on that one. He's been paying for it ever since though, because I still shop here and now I even work here. Thanks John!
