Bonus review!
Long-time, medium-time, and short-time readers of these reviews will know how much I adore Ghost Machine. I will sing their praises to high heaven because they really are that good. However, in the interest of my own integrity as a reviewer, I have some things to say about this.
I do think this is a really nifty concept. A revival of the old Who's Who/Official Guide titles of yore. Fitting for Ghost Machine, who've made their mark bringing vintage ideas into modern day. If you're already reading Ghost Machine titles, by all means, pick it up. It’s a strong recommend for established readers with lots of little details to appreciate.
BUT.
For the new reader, while it’s an intriguing snapshot of the publisher as whole, I don’t know that it’s a good jumping on point. It’s a good book, don’t get me wrong; the art's lovely, the profiles are solid and well-written, but much like Who's Who and Official Guide, it's for readers who’ve dipped their toes into the pool and decided the water’s fine. Which to me is a bit of a missed opportunity.
