I never thought Mark Waid would be a good fit with ol' Doctor Strange, but boy was I wrong. He is doing great things with the character in the present, while incorporating elements from the past, and setting things up in this book so it can be great for many issues to come (as long as Marvel doesn't take him off this book prematurely the way they took him off of Captain America a little while ago).
From a distance I thought that the first arc of the series with Strange in space was a MCU inspired decision to make every character "cosmic", but instead it is a very solid chapter in the character's history with ramifications for all future runs on the series (plus a major new "tool" in Strange's arsenal. Since he has been back on Earth this series has stayed very consistent, with every issue packing a real punch (no "pace for trade" here). This issue was no different, and I have a feeling that this is not the Dr. Strange / Galactus encounter you were expecting.
This is an issue you can jump into not having read the rest of the series, but if you're like me and need to start at the beginning of things you can check out "Doctor Strange Vol 1 Across the Universe TPB" and "Doctor Strange Vol 2 Remittance TPB". Or if you prefer single issues you search "Doctor Strange", select that from the drop down menu, and then right-arrow over to this series which is marked as "2018".
