"How is it that Paul Dini is, Resurrection of Ra’s Al Ghul aside, so good on Detective Comics and so awful on Countdown in the same week? Have I mentioned this before? It’s sort-of baffling. Like, I’ll read this issue, which is as tightly constructed a one-off mystery as you’re likely to find these days, and it’s real good. Clever and Batman-y. But then I’ll read Countdown, any Countdown, anyTHING Countdown, and it’ll be awful. Not the script, since I know Dini doesn’t do that, but the basic plot is so dumb and unreadable that I can’t believe that it’s done by anyone who has even READ a comic, let alone written one. And Dini HAS written comics! Good ones! THIS good one! I’m so confused!"
