Sometimes you don't realize how much you've missed something until it's back again. Concrete Stars over Sand #1 fits this cliché. From the moment I opened the book and was pleasantly surprised to find the story starting on the inside front cover, and in beautiful full color, it just felt fantastic.
Concrete/Paul Chadwick was one of the many creators that made DARK HORSE a real competitor to the big 2 back in the late 80s and early 90s, and I can't put into words how nice it is to have this book back again, as if it had never left.
Chadwicks writing and art has not degregated at all, unlike so many creators where time really seems to ravage their abilities.
Will it be easy to jump into this and understand everything if you've never read Concrete before? no. Should you anwyay? YES.
Suffice it to say that there was nothing else like Concrete in the 80's/90s/20s and there's still nothing else like it in the 2020s. Please dive in.
