BONUS REVIEW by GARY OWENS

The Boys enter a new chapter in their life as Garth Ennis picks up the pace, facing them off against a new breed of supers who can hold their own. If you haven’t read The Boys yet, it sets five CIA-backed intimidators who try to keep the overall super community in check. Their world is vicious, troubling, and manipulative, and this part, perhaps, is the most underexplained part of the series, at least from the issues I’ve read thus far. Unlike other comics, however, I don’t find the graphic violence gratuitous here, but a natural evolution of the characters viewpoint on life, and the way they’ve been taught to handle it. What I enjoy is that Garth Ennis is willing to keep it real by sacrificing entrenched characters, without alternate universes explaining them away. And this issue delivers. For some tough action, this is a comic to get.
I give it 8 out of 10 Grahams
