It was always going to come to this. The Clown Prince of Crime and the Dark Knight Detective go head-to-head for the last time. The Joker has never wanted to win before, he's never wanted his battle with Batman to end, but now his motivation has shifted. He has decided that one way or another, this will be the final chapter to their story. 'Joker War' begins here!

BONUS REVIEW by Kevin Healy

'Joker War' is here! As you can see from the reviews, its a mixed bag, with some high highs (Batgirl) and some low lows (Nightwing) and some inbetween, like here, Batman #95.

TynionIVeva has some nice reflexive Joker dialogue, Jorge Jimenez has a slightly cartoon style that works well with his page layouts, and the coloring by Tomeu Morey is quite good for both mood and clarity (something missing in too many books now). All of these are used in service of Joker taking away everything that makes Batman Batman.

After 85 issues of Bane breaking down Batman so he could regroup and rebuild himself, we're in a version of that again. Yes, it has the Joker. Yes, its pretty to look at. If you enjoyed any or most of Tom King's run, this may feel like you just got off this ride.

I know that won't matter ( I know that because I sold out on Tuesday), so please get all the enjoyment yuu can out of it since you're going to buy it regardless.

I give it 6 out of 10 Grahams
