The comic book that started it all, for me was Batman #497. It was actually a hand me down in a stack of random 90's books: Youngbloods, Spawns, and probably a few Death of Supermans. Batman, however, was the one that caught my eye. I had always liked the animated series and was of course drawn to the character. Needless to say, this comic changed my life. Right from the cover, with Batman twisted over a hulking Bane's knee. This was my first experience of a superhero actually losing. How could evil win? From then on, my appetite has never been filled for this beloved medium. And the rest, as they say, is history...
