Aquaman Jabberjaw Special #1

Aquaman Jabberjaw Special #1

$4.99
VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
(W) Dan Abnett, Jeff Parker
(A) Paul Pelletier & Various
(CA) Paul Pelletier, Andrew Hennessy
When the town of Amnesty Island is besieged by a series of shark attacks, authorities call Aquaman for help! What's unusual about this case is that the shark isn't trying to kill people-he just wants to talk to them. The very confused Jabberjaw needs to get back to Aqualand, the future undersea utopia where he came from. But that peaceful city where man and sentient sea life have been living in harmony has been turned into a dystopian nightmare created by a new Ocean Master. Now the King of Atlantis and his friendly shark ally have to team up to set things right. Also includes a Captain Caveman meets the wizard Shazam in a short story by Jeff Parker and Scott Kolins.
Date Available: 05/30/2018
BONUS REVIEW by "Doc" Schaefer

I cringed as I read the listings that showed the latest batch of anamorphic crossovers with the DC and Hanna Barbera universes. But luckily in this one-shot, Dan Abnett not only provides a logical reason for the meeting but provides humor and an interesting cameo of a certain underwater base and a certain 60's cartoon featuring a certain king of the seas. Paul Pelletier's pencil work is classic and displays great visuals as we travel into the future. Add in a bit of a rib tickler featuring a debate between the Spectre and the wizard Shazam over Captain Caveman and this makes for a very entertaining and thought provoking book.

I give it 7 out of 10 Grahams
