This was nearly a seven, but the amount of overlap between the tie in titles AND the main series AND each other was about as cannibalizing as comics can get.


That said, the implausible task of squeezing an event in between Empire and Jedi has occurred, and it was better than Shadows Of The Empire. Luke Ross does adequate work here (he has on all of his Star Wars books) but he's no Steve McNiven. Charles Soule resorts to too many uses of scenarios and dialogue pulled from the movies, the single greatest downfall for a licensed book. (See his run on Darth Vader which does none of that for an example of what could be.) As a set up for...what's next...this DOES work, and is begrudgingly recommended. It just could have been so much better with some tweaks, some edits, and a freer set of creative hands. These feel a bit tied, and certainly tied-in.
