From the pages of Amazing Spider-Man! The last Jackpot died in combat alongside Spider-Man - so who is the New Jackpot putting fear into the hearts of street criminals? Why has BOOMERANG targeted her for death? And how is THE ROSE involved? Find out this January as founding Web-head Marc Guggenheim returns to the Spider-Verse alongside rising star ADRIANA MELO (MS. MARVEL) to bring the next great marvel heroine, Jackpot!
Date Available: 01/06/2010
BONUS REVIEW by GARY OWENS

A ton goes into first issues of mini-mini series: background information (Jackpot is a redhead with super powers, but prefers the family life instead; a predecessor died), the tension that moves the plot (a chiding Spider-man, reminding her of responsibilities; illegal shipments that she’s stopping), and characterization (?), all within a few, scant pages. For me, many mini-mini-series, like this one, shortchange the last point...like this one. The characters monologue most of the time, concentrating on plot/background info, that their personalities seem like impartial journalists. I liked the cliffhanger finish, where some characterization does get through (see Boomarang), but I wanted more. Much more.
I give it 6 out of 10 Grahams
