Serenity Better Days #1

Serenity Better Days #1

$4.50
VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
JOSS WHEDON (W), BRETT MATTHEWS (W), WILL CONRAD (A), MICHELLE MADSEN (C), and ADAM HUGHES (Cover)

Joss Whedon returns to the world of his blockbuster film Serenity with the three-issue comics series Better Days. Better Days revisits everyone’s favorite space cowboys in this thrilling, action-packed adventure, with Mal and his crew on a heist that promises a big payoff—what’s surprising is that this heist just might make good on that promise. Whedon reunites with Brett Matthews and Will Conrad, his collaborators on the best-selling 2005 series Those Left Behind. Adam Hughes joins the team for covers.

While I may not be a "browncoat," I do love me some Serenity. Watched the TV show, "Firefly" (for its short stint on the air) and saw the movie a couple times (where were the rest of you?). And I'll take anything new I can get out of the story and the cast of characters. So I was thrilled to see another new mini-series from Dark Horse, albeit only three issues long. The crew's all here (being a prequel to the movie all of those characters that were killed off are back) and at the top of their snarky dialogue game. And what are they up to? Another get rich quick scheme, what else? But there's something different about this one... this one might actually WORK. Wouldn't that be a change of pace? The artwork's a little iffy but the writing, as usual is spot-on, intelligent and funny. Might just be a welcome and deserving addition to the Serenity canon..
I give it 7 out of 10 Grahams
