They’re back at last! Patriot, hulkling, wiccan, vision, stature and hawkeye! Where have they been and what is their place in this new post-civil war marvel universe? It will take six issues by six top creative teams to tell the tale! In this first installment, featuring patriot, the grandson of the black captain america struggles with his unresolved feelings about the death of steve rogers, and seeks out the winter soldier hoping to find some guidance. But who he’s looking for and who he finds may be two different things! By eisner and harvey award-winning best writer ed brubaker and rising star paco medina.

"Here’s the secret reason why characters like the Young Avengers seem to disappear once their creator isn’t around to write them: people din’t necessarily love ‘Young Avengers’, they loved ‘Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung’s Marvel Comic’. Exhibit A for that theory has to be this issue of the new YA mini-series. It’s by solid creators, Ed Brubaker and Paco Medina, but it really is less about Patriot (or fellow YA guest-stars like Hawkeye or Wiccan) than it is guest-star Winter Soldier. Much like beloved cartoon icon Poochy, pretty much from page four the entire story centers around Winter Soldier, to the extent that whenever he isn’t on the page, the remaining characters’ dialogue is consumed by wondering what he’s up to or where he is. Which would be fine if this were a Winter Soldier comic, but it’s not. It’s a Patriot comic, and despite letting him narrate the comic, Brubaker just doesn’t seem convinced that he’s interesting enough to carry the issue himself. And after reading this comic, I’m not sure he’s wrong."
