Daredevil Annual #1 (2007)

$5.00
VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
Story by ED BRUBAKER & ANDE PARKS
Script by ANDE PARKS Penciled by ROY ALLEN MARTINEZ Cover by MARKO DJURDJEVIC
Daredevil's having a tough week. A flu bug has rendered his radar power useless, a Yakuza gang is trying to reclaim their power in Hell's Kitchen, and there's a murder to be solved. Now, he has to deal with a visitor from his time in prison–Carlos LaMuerto, a.k.a. the Black Tarantula. Carlos has been released, and he's looking to Matt Murdock for some help in setting up a new life on the outside. Will Murdock and LaMuerto end up as allies, or foes? Will Black Tarantula really go straight, or will his inner demons lure him back to his crime-lord past?

"Yay! It’s a Marvel annual that doesn’t focus entirely on the narration of someone being hunted by the title character (who only appears in cameo)! Yay! Still, we do get another story that delves heavily into the concerns of a supporting cast member, but at least this one is plotted by monthly writer Ed Brubaker, and it feels like this’ll have some more pay-off in the regular Daredevil book later. As decent as this might be, though, it’s starting to look like annuals are going back to the classic ‘shovel in any content you want’ approach that Marvel held through the 80’s and 90’s. Which is good, since we’re all tired of stories that matter or are interesting, right?"
