VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
Written by Jeff Parker, penciled by Leonard Kirk, cover by Tomm Coker.
"Most of us don't realize when we're experiencing pivotal history...Today I did. I knew I was witnessing the return of a legend." S.H.I.E.L.D. Subdirector Derek Khanata, from his report on Namora. The Sea Monarch joins the Agents of Atlas as they take on an evil that looks to be deeper than the ocean itself!

So far, I’ve loved this series, though each issue has been worse then the one before, and the trend continues here. If you haven’t checked it out, this comic, I think, is a tongue-in-cheek look back at the comics from the 60’s, from the larger Comic Code Authority stamp to the reference to the Beatles inside. I say, “I think”, because the comic grips on old standbys for “humor”, and doesn’t let go. For instance, when The Blonde Phantom complains that everyone just remarks about how pretty she is, it’s not really funny…it just seems to make sense. So stating the obvious is funny? With the general lack of humor comes bland stories; the first story seems to have been cut short, like a page was missing, and the 2nd story was typical of some of the stories I hated in the 60’s…where mystery is substituted for real tension. Hopefully the comic will soon get back on track to the first couple issues, with it’s Alan Moore feel…at least, I hope so.
I give it 4 out of 10 Grahams
