Stan Lee Meets Doctor Strange

Stan Lee Meets Doctor Strange

$5.50
VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
Written by Stan Lee and Brian Michael Bendis, penciled by Alan Davis and Mark Bagley, cover by Davis.
The first in a series of stand-alone specials celebrating the 65th Anniversary of Stan Lee's employment at Marvel! First, Stan journeys to Greenwich Villiage to catch up with his old pal Doctor Strange -- but things have certainly changed since the 60s! Next, the Ultimate Spider-Man team of Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley pays homage to the life and career of The Man. And finally, a representation of the Stan-scripted Doctor Strange story from Marvel Premiere #3, illustrated by Barry Windsor-Smith.
BONUS REVIEW by DAL BUSH
$3.99 actually goes a long way this time, getting you 4 different stories, each requiring 4 different grades. The lead is, as the title states, Dr. Strange metting Stan, a fun little goof by Stan and Alan Davis that lets Davis cut loose on some fun imagery. 7 Grahams. The second story's by the Ultimate Spidey team of Bendis and Bagley, with the Impossible Man freaking out over how not fun the Marvel Universe is anymore. A funny injoke to Bendis haters, with a very true point at the end. 8 Grahams. The 4th story is actually a reprint from Marvel Premiere #3 with art by Barry "Windsor" Smith, but I'm not into 70s Marvel, so never mind. THE THING TO BUY THIS FOR, however, is the third story, a 2-page Mini Marvels strip with the most hilarious punchline a gag strip ever saw. 10 Grahams, highly recommended. The whole book gets an 8 for being actually fun. Remember that, Bendis?
