The FF, these days: Despair, The End is Nigh. Either someone is coming from the future, or another dimension, to warn the FF of soon-to-pass dire events, or someone predicts the coming end (NuWorld, thank you), it’s still the same. They’ve lost their banner “Best Comic Magazine Ever”, but they could start a new one stating “Best Apocalyptic Stories Ever”. Yes, I see hearts on the cover, and the Thing has proposed to his sweetheart (and he should get married; everyone else has on the FF). But more world destroying villains, and more plots involving Doctor Doom (again!)…do I need to say the word “rut”? I love Mark Millar’s scripting, and the art is nice, but I’m thinking I need a good ‘ol Frightful Four or Mole Man or even Dragon Man tale. Shouldn’t the city of New York get angry at them for something? How about the Puppet Master hypnotizing all of NY, causing them to vote for Diablo as Mayor? No complaints about the writing…just the endless high pitch of calamity.
I give it 6 out of 10 Grahams
