BONUS REVIEW by GARY OWENS

After the monster-sized last issue, I wondered what writer J. Michael Straczynski would throw at us next. His run has calmed down the battle-scenes, pausing the characters to reflect, to say, “What do we do now?” (look at the first handful of pages in this issue for examples). Yes, a thoughtful Thor, but for a character who is an Immortal, with fearsome power, for me, it all makes sense. J. Michael’s story is clever, from the Doctor Doom parts, to the revelation by Loki, even to the Warrior’s Three. I didn’t understand the romantic angle in this book, not enough detail, but that, I’m sure, is J. Michael remembering who reads Thor. I enjoy seeing Loki’s craftiness; no other writer has paced it well enough to showcase Loki’s methodical deceit. Not until Straczynski, at least.
I give it 8 out of 10 Grahams
