On the heels of the second Hellboy feature film, legendary artist and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola returns to the drawing table for this standalone adventure of the world’s greatest paranormal detective! REVIEW by Brian Fisher

Unfortunately, like most Hellboy projects involving Mike Mignola on art duties, “In the Chapel of Moloch” is far too brief. But, hey who’s complaining? I’ll take my Mignola any way I can get it, be it mini-series (wink-wink, nudge-nudge, Mike) or one-shot. This story is about what anyone familiar with Hellboy should expect: mysticism, monsters and a big red guy smashing the ever-living crap out of said monsters. Hellboy is called to the mountains of Peru by an art agent worried about his client, who has taken to sculpting huge statues of horned beasties. I want to be disappointed about the infrequency of Mignola’s artistic endeavors, but every time he comes out with a new project I’m just so pleased with it that I forget I was disappointed in the first place. “Moloch” is a great little one-off issue, albeit a bit short for what I was expecting.
I give it 8 out of 10 Grahams
