BONUS REVIEW by RICK BERG

Being a fan of Thor since 1982 and a religious zealot since 1987, it takes a lot to impress me these days. This book nearly floored me; this is what I wanted from Matt Fraction's Thor. Carlos Pacheco, Dexter Vines and Edgar Delgado were summoned together to remind me why we all loved Millar and Hitch's first Ultimates, heck even why I love comics. Showcasing breathtaking cinematic artwork without being lost under over colored rushed pen strokes, this trio combines to make one pretty comic. Next to Chris Samnee this is the best ANY Thor book has looked in ages. And Jonathan Hickman holds up his end of the bargain as well. Unlike most of his work, nothing here is too Grant Morrisonesque. I do not need a degree in String Theory and Astrophysics to follow along. Everything you need to know (except how to read Runes, which you don’t need to) is provided naturally in the story itself. The only way to make this book better was if Ultimate Comics was dropped and Thor had a red cape on. This is what Thor First Thunder should have been.
I give it 83 out of 10 Grahams
