• What is the great evil Constantine unleashes on Gemworld, and why is Amethyst powerless to stop him?
Date Available: 04/17/2013
BONUS REVIEW by Gary Owens

There’s AD&D comic book fantasy, and then there’s Amethyst fantasy. Amethyst fantasy revolves around thrones and hereditary like the AD&D Cutter series did, but goes sideways by revamping a long time DC villain in this issue (and that’s all I will say)—talk about expanding the base. The issue itself resonates, and sets up the next issue well—not reading many of these, I feared too much girly gems, like a DC comics version of Little Ponies, and watered down swords and sorcery, and yeah there was a bunch of purple colors my daughter favors but the story explored the history of Gemworld, deepened the new 52 DC universe, and set up a battle royale in the next issue. Give it a shot—it adds flavor to the new DC.

I give it 8 out of 10 Grahams
